Analytics and cookies

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and understand how the site is used. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you accept, Google Analytics runs in a cookieless mode (Google Consent Mode): it does not set or read analytics cookies, and only sends basic, cookieless measurement signals such as the page viewed. Advertising storage is always denied; this site does not use Google Analytics for advertising.

If you accept, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies to recognise repeat visits. Either way we record an event when an affiliate link is clicked (which link and on which page). Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage, and you can change it at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. See Google’s privacy policy.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, we receive your message, the email address you give us and, if you provide it, your name, by email. We use them only to reply to you. To limit abuse, the server records a hashed form of the sending IP address to rate-limit submissions. We keep contact-form messages only as long as we need them to reply, and delete the hashed IP record used for rate-limiting within about a day.

Links that start with /go/ redirect you to a provider’s website. That provider may set its own cookies. See the affiliate disclosure.

Server logs

Our web host may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, requested page, time and browser) for security and operations.
